About

"Although “The Myth of Sisyphus” poses mortal problems, it sums itself up for me as a lucid invitation to live and to create, in the very midst of the desert."

--Albert Camus

The expression of art, especially poetry, has always sustained me throughout the challenges I have faced. As someone having co-occurring conditions (bipolar 1/generalized anxiety/misuse of alcohol), I am aware of how the circumstances of this pandemic have affected me at times. One vital way to maintain balance is for me to write. I encourage you to express yourself in any way that affirms you, especially during these trying times.

I began rereading "The Myth of Sisyphus" as communities everywhere began to shut down under the specter of the virus. Camus's quote in the preface of his essay resonated profoundly, and in that spirit, I began to write these poems.

"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally in whatever way they like."

--Lao Tzu
